SYNOPSIS

Set on the Banks Peninsula in the 1960’s, this is a warmhearted and open-eyed snapshot of life in New Zealand’s 20th century rural communities, and an insightful glimpse into the concerns, dreams and joys of childhood.

Michael Hope lives on a volcano - and while geological rumblings may remain deep underground, unrest in the adult world threatens to erupt into his life, changing everything. Peninsula is a bittersweet coming of age story, rich with Kiwi nostalgia.

Each actor will play both an adult and a child, except in one case where the actor portraying Gordon / Pug will play an adult and a dog.

Cast ages are flexible - more emphasis will be placed on finding actors which suit the roles and work well together - but the roles are highly physical in nature, so some level of fitness/agility is necessary.

New Zealand accents are required.

The characters:

Michael Hope - a young boy
